Protocols
Model Context Protocol
MCP standardizes how model applications discover and invoke external tools and resources.
How it works
A client connects to a server, negotiates capabilities, lists available primitives, and sends typed requests. The protocol separates model hosts from integration implementations.
A concrete example
Illustrative: initialize once, list 12 tools, then call read_resource with one JSON argument object.
Do not confuse it with Tool calling
tool calling is a model behavior; MCP is a transport and capability protocol around integrations.
